About us

We are a team in life and in photography. We met in 2018 while both were working as full-time photojournalists in Bulgarian media. We can document your event in its full scope and diversity. Our photography is honest and alive. We emphasize the dynamics and culminating moments, but we also convey the emotions, context, and details.

In our opinion, the natural course of events is always more exciting and vital than the staged reality. The focus of the event should remain on its essence, and not shift to its documentation, as often happens. Experience in reportage work helps us to be unobtrusive and even invisible attendees, who, however, rarely miss the important moments.

We also believe that there are no non-photogenic people. Creating comfort, getting to know each other, patience, and a sincere attitude are in our recipe for capturing the beauty and charm with which every person is gifted.

Let us be the photographers of your wedding, prom, reunion or corporate event.

We are based in Varna, Bulgaria and we love to travel.

Hi, I am Mihaela Aroyo

... and I was born in Varna, Bulgaria, where I grew up and finished high school before moving to study at New Bulgarian University in Sofia. There, I completed my bachelor’s degree in photography and gained my first professional experiences as a backstage photographer and photojournalist. Since 2020, I have been working as a freelance photographer. My greatest passion is documentary photography and working on long-term projects that require research and deep immersion in the topic. In 2023, I was the Inge Morath Award finalist and The Everyday Projects Grant winner. I have exhibited my work in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Serbia and Poland. My work has been published in The New Yorker, National Geographic and Die Zeit, among others. I have been teaching photography in Varna since 2023.

Wedding photography for me is a very personal form of documentary, and I practice it with responsibility and attention to every moment.

Hi, I am Denislav Stoychev

… and I’m photographing everything everywhere all the time. Almost never get tired! I used to work as reportage photographer for national press in Sofia from 2012 till 2020. Since then, I am a happy freelancer in documentary photography and, what a surprise, a wedding photographer. My journalistic works are published in dozens of international media outlets including The Guardian, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Der Spiegel, Al Jazeera, National Geographic and Fisheye magazines. I’ve had individual documentary and conceptual exhibitions in Bulgaria, Slovakia and Ukraine. Some national awards, including Best Young Photojournalist twice in 2011 and 2013 at BG Press Photo contest, some workshops in NYC, Sofia, Sarajevo, Belgrade and Bursa. In recent years I’m teaching documentary photography to students.

My friends from the media field often don’t get my excitement about weddings. But I get tons of inspiration and get high from capturing all the great emotions, the energy, the aesthetics of each wedding day. The mixture of documentary and artistic approach is king. It’s so lovely when the photographers can experience the whole day together with the newlyweds who are no more clients but feel as close friends. And I also feel awesome when I’m the one responsible for keeping the visual memories from that special once-in-a-lifetime event – the wedding day!
